OUT OF BOUNDS PRESS
we publish comics, visual art, essays and poetry for our quarterly physical and digital journal. each submission period is themed and we encourage artists to think creatively about how this theme influences their lives and work.
We accept submissions in the following categories: essays, poetry, comics and visual art. All submissions must follow our general criteria:
Maximum of 6 pages per submissions (max 1200 words for essays and poems)
Text should be 12pt, single spaced
Any visual element (comics, art, etc.) must be in black and white. We request that images are 300 dpi and can fit on a 5.25x8.25 inch page.
If you have specific formatting requests, please indicate in your submission form.
Note: our print copies will be produced in 5.5x8.5 size and printed in black and white.
this issue's theme is...
METAMORPHOSIS
Spring is a time of change and growth in unexpected ways. Weather changes, habits change, people change. This submission period, we are seeking unique interpretations of metamorphosis. This could include comics about insects, essays about transition, poetry about growing up, et cetera.
We reserve the right to refuse contributions that we deem hateful or offensive. Submitted work must be human-made (i.e. not made by generative AI).
Out of Bounds is dedicated to publishing the work of historically under-represented communities in the publishing world. We encourage contributions from BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, disabled, migrant, and working class creatives. Emerging and unpublished creatives are also encouraged to submit.
